LISA ORVIS, LMT

My work:

I typically practice a combination of Swedish, Deep Tissue and some Myofacial release. Depending on each clients needs, using these three modalities, I build from there.

Swedish technique:

Often the foundation of of each session. Swedish helps calm the nervous system with long flowing strokes, which can create a sense of ease, while preparing the body for deeper or more targeted work. Swedish also helps increase circulation and an environment of relaxation.

Deep tissue:

Deep tissue is wonderful for working with chronic pain, recovering from an injury and postural imbalances. This technique is not about force, but more about precision, pace and tuning into the body and how the tissue responds. I like to think of deep tissue as melting into into tension, never forcing. It's my firm belief that massage should never hurt be painful to be effective.

Myofacial Release:

Although I am not yet certified in Myofacial release, I have learned the basics and I love to incorporate it into sessions when it feels appropriate. Our facial layer is our bodies connective tissue matrix. Gentle, steady pressure and the spreading of this connective tissue helps improve mobility and helps in addressing chronic tension. A good option when deep work feels like too much.

Privacy:

I take very seriously the safety and privacy of each client. Nothing that is shared with me, both in the treatment room or on intake forms will ever be shared. It is my commitment to offer not only a physically safe environment for my clients, but also emotionally and energetically safe as well. This is a judgement free zone and all are welcome.

Zero tolerance:

Massage therapy is sacred work. The alchemy of connecting mind, body and spirit through physical touch is purely magical. Unfortunately, this work has also been misused in harmful ways. I have a zero tolerance of the sexualization of this work. In keeping with my commitment to upholding a safe space, I reserve the right to terminate a session if I feel any boundaries are crossed. This means any inappropriate comments of a sexual nature, inappropriate touch, or any sexual advances. If I feel unsafe, I will end the session immediately and expect full payment for the session, with the understanding that offenders will be banned from returning.

Cancellation policy:

I ask that I am given 24 notice of any cancellation of appointments. This gives me some opportunity to fill the spot and offer it to someone on my waiting list. Failure to do so or if you are a no-show, I will expect full payment for the missed session. The exception to this rule is in the case of an emergency or if you are feeling unwell. I strongly encourage you to get in touch and please stay home if you are feeling sick.

004 — WHY US

We embrace you

Massage therapy, for me, is a practice in listening, presence, and connection. Each session is a quiet conversation with the body — guided by awareness rather than force. Every person arrives with their own story, and I hold space for that story to unfold through touch and breath.
